29/5/11,
Sebastian Vettel continues the ''pole position'' job!!
Whatever the others say, in whatever track you go to the league, one of the Red Bull car is in pole position. Sebastian Vettel for the 5th time in 6 races will start from the first row of the grid, continuing the dominance of Red Bull on Saturdays. In a period marked by the serious accident of Sergio Perez with Sauber, Vettel managed to make an unbeatable lap time and not be threatened at any point.
Next to Vettel in the first row of the grid will be Jenson Button with McLaren, who is the other driver who managed managed to drive descend below 1:14. From the second row of the grid will start Mark Webber and Fernando Alonso.
Michael Schumacher who was expected to do well at Monaco and his performance in qualifying was confirmed. The German driver of Mercedes-scored the fifth best lap time, behind Alonso and will start the race from the third row. Next to him will be Felipe Massa in the other Ferrari. On the fourth row Lewis Hamilton will start taking the seventh position and Nico Rosberg who took the eighth while Pastor Maldonado will start in ninth.
The most important event of the day was the departure of Sergio Perez and the powerful crash with the barrier. The Mexican driver lost control of his Sauber at the exit of the tunnel and hit the first barrier side, where he broke his right hand post. Then the car continued at high speed wayward and fell on its side on the foam just across the chicane. Perez spent much time in the car until the medical staff managed to extricate and put him in the ambulance that carried him to the local hospital. Early reports say that it normally conscious and available on talking with doctors while there are unconfirmed reports of injuries in his leg.
The output of Perez caused the interruption of Q3, 2:26 before the end. At that point Hamilton and Maldonado had not sored any lap time, like the Mexican driver before the crash. The lap times of the first 6 drivers were scored before the break. The restart, about 40 minutes later, did not bring any great changes and only Lewis Hamilton was able to pass Rosberg and take the seventh position.
In the rearmost positions we have few surprises. Renault came to Monaco with great expectations but failed to complete, with Vitaly Petrov to remain in 11th position and Nick Heidfeld in 16th. Among them are Barrichello, Kobayashi, Di Resta and Sutil, while behind are Buemi, Kovalainen, Trulli, Alguersuari, Glock and D, Ambrosio. The two drivers of HRT did not joined the the track for qualifying so expected is the stewards' decision on whether to allow them to take part in tomorrow's race.
Update: The stewards ultimately approved the participation of HRT in the race so we will see Karthikeyan and Liuzzi in the grid.
