8/5/11,
Sebastian Vettel dominated the Turkish Grand Prix, with his team mate in second and Fernando Alonso in third!!
The 4th race of the year ended to confirm two things: That the car of Red Bull in the hands of Sebastian Vettel is a car in a different level than the other ones, and that changes in regulations have clearly changed to the better performances in Formula 1. Once again we have seen amazing battles, and dozens of overtakings and wheel to wheel battles. Mark Webber seemed to make things difficult for the Red Bull but eventually managed a few laps before the checkered flag to pass Fernando Alonso and climbed up to the second position of the podium. In fourth position was placed Lewis Hamilton, who gave many battles although he had bad luck behind him and Nico Rosberg proved that Mercedes has improved. Button, Heidfeld, Buemi and Petrov.
When the red lights went out, we saw the now familiar picture of Mark Webber to be delayed, which was observed by Nico Rosberg, who immediately attacked and briefly took the second position. Behind them was Lewis Hamilton who wanted to pass the Australian driver and chose the outside line in turn 2, which forced him to deal with understeer problems and eventually lost 3 positions. The British found himself behind his team mate and there began an epic battle with the two to switch position 3 times until Hamilton manage to dominate Button.
Behind them Schumacher began his day with an early contact when Vitaly Petrov dived with great optimism in the internal before the last chicane, lost the brakes and pushed the German. This contact destroyed the front wing of the German driver, which forced him to go immediately into the pit. There was also Sergio Perez, who started the day with destroying his front wing in the first turn after the star of the race.
From the third round was now clear that Mercedes had speed problems and Nico Rosberg lost ground continuously. First Mark Webber passed him in the third round and after 2 laps Fernando Alonso found himself in front of the German driver.
While both of the cars of McLaren were giving us a nice battle Felipe Massa approached and started pushing. Eventually Massa passed Hamilton in the end of the ninth round, but only for a few seconds after the two cars came together to change tires but went in reverse. After completion of the first refueling Vettel, Webber were of course without any problem in the first two positions but behind them the fight in the jungle continued.
The second set of refueling stated with Mark Webber entering earlier than everyone. Behind Nico Rosberg was pushed by Felipe Massa. The battle was amazingly impressive as the Brazilian tried to pass before turning 11, which then allowed using DRS. This enabled the German to respond and go back before the last chicane. Both drivers were contacted twice but eventually Massa kept his position. The scene was repeated again with other players. This time it was the turn of Jenson Button to take the position of Rosberg.
And while it seemed that the two Red Bull would have no trouble lining up at the end Fernando Alonso after the second supply began to come close to Mark Webber at the end of the 29th round being able able to move comfortably in the second place, while Felipe Massa tried to keep up with, back Button and Vitaly Petrov turn up defense to Felipe Massa. Jenson Button has finally gone into the 34th round keeping the sixth position.
Lewis Hamilton chosed the 34th lap for doing his last pitstop but nothing went good for the British. The engineer was not enough fast with the front right tire change and after that the advent of Massa in the pitlane the lollipop man forced Hamilton to stay a few second more in the pits. This thing did not cost him a position as he managed to get ahead of Nico Rosberg.
In the next few minutes we did not have any dramatic changes to the track until the 45th round so began a series of events: First Pastor Maldonando told that he should go through penalty for speeding in the pitlane, while Webber and Alonso came in the fourth and last tire change. In another part of the track Nico Rosberg typical passed easily Felipe Massa, who also came to change his tires along with Hamilton and Vettel.
6 laps before the end of the race Mark Webber caught Fernando Alonso and after that a spectacular battle begun which finally brought the Australian driver in the second place of the podium. Behind them Nico Rosberg managed to pass Jenson Button for the fifth position while Felipe Massa <> Michael Schumacher off the track and out of the 11th position.
Rubens Barrichello ran in the top ten early on but fell to 15th at the end in front ofJaime Alguersuari and Pastor Maldonado. Jarno Trulli finished the race 11 seconds behind the other Williams, with Heikki Kovalainen, Jerome d’Ambrosio, Narain Karthikeyan and Vitantonio Liuzzi behind.
Paul di Resta was the only driver to drop out during the race with an unspecified car problem, while Timo Glock didn’t make the start with a gearbox problem. Vettel strengthens his position in the drivers’ championship and Red Bull celebrate a one-two finish two months after their nightmare race at the same track (Sebastian Vettel was out of the race after the crash and Mark Webber managed to get the third position, these driver crashed together) .
