26/2/11,
The Malaysian Grand Prix in the circuit of Sepang has impressed the world when it was conducted for the first time in 1999 but most of the race organizers admit that it has lost much of its luster. In 2010, viewers who went to the track in the last 3 days had not even arrived at 100,000, although in Sepang the tickets are the cheapest in F1, and even fewer visitors are expected to visit the circuit this year.
In all, the success of the night race in Singapore has made the people of Malaysia to seriously think about organizing a night race before the completion of this contract with FOM in 2015 to stimulate the interest of viewers. The head director of the track, Razlan Razali, admitted that there is a problem with the people attendance: "The biggest competitor is our TV because many of the F1 fans prefer to watch the race from their TV in their home. We should prepare a night race before we renew our contract in 2015. Maybe we are going to have more viewers because the night temperatures are lower.
Razali explained some of the reasons that discourage people to visit the track: "When it rains, the roof in the central platform drips and that is a thing which people hate. The track was constructed extremely fast but unfortunately there are some faults and the maintenance is not so good. "
