Williams did not exclude the possibility to return to the usage of the KERS with rotor. The British team had chosen this option two years ago, going against the current things, which eventually aligned this year. However, alongside the presentation of the official colors of the new FW33, the technical director, Sam Michael, revealed that this does not mean to abandon the original idea.
"In our car we have a kinetic energy recovery system which works with a battery. Anything that has to do with the KERS, is positioned low and that's for aerodynamic reasons. We considered to have a KERS with rotor, as in 2009. We were very close to the pick, but the difficulties to fit it on the small back part of the car prevented us from using it. But we do not rule it to be happened in another time. It is very difficult to do so in 2011, but it is definitely the choice for the next season, "said Michael.
