The World Champion of 2010, predicts that even 2 pit-stops for tires change won't be enough!!
The philosophy of Pirelli in the design and manufacture of the new tires of Formula 1 is known here very well. The tires of the Italian company deteriorate faster than those of Bridgestone, in order that two pit stop will be made in every race so as to change the tires.
But it seems that the stops that the drivers will have probably to make during the race will be more than two. The champion of 2010, Sebastian Vettel, provided that this year we will see several different races, including at least three pit stop per driver: "The tires are very different from last year but this is the same for everyone. But I think the races will change. It is impossible to make only one pit stop at this stage as it is impossible to do even two, so we will see races with three or four pit stop. This will be very interesting. The question is whether this is good or bad for us. It's hard to consider at that point right now because obviously we need to see how the races will be developed. " Last month the Pirelli's motorsport directory Paul Hembery said he doubted teams would need to make as many as four pit stops in a typical race: “Not from the data we’ve seen, no. I’d question why they would be doing four
The German driver of Red Bull expressed his hope that the new animated wings will not spoil the races: "The KERS is the same for everyone and it will not make any difference. The animated rear wing is another story because you can use it only to attack and not to defend yourself. I hope only to prevent them from making overtaking too easy because that would make the races artificial. We should wait and see what will happen. "
