16/3/11,
Ecclestone says that Australia is very important, but don't make a discount!!
This year's Formula 1 championship will start in Melbourne with the Australian Grand Prix, a race which faced several financial problems. The organizers have stated several times that not only the profit from this race causes severe damage but also that are planning when the current contract ends in 2015 not to renew it.
It is certain that the organizers have put pressure on Bernie Ecclestone to make them a better price, but the Briton has appeared unmoved. This attitude has not changed, but in his last statements before closing the door in the face of the Australians said how important it considers that the Australian race is:
"Australia is for us as important as Monaco. It is part of the World Cup too long and I hate the thought that we may miss it. In the case of Melbourne, if they consider the product too expensive to understand, and when the contract is completed there is no need to renew if they don't want it. We will not compel anyone to do something that does not want or which is too expensive. We have a huge audience though but if this is not important for them, they should not buy it, "said Ecclestone to Reuters.
