Catalunya (Second) Testing Day 4 - Schumacher drives to the top!!

11/3/11,
Michael Schumacher was impressively faster in the today testings in Catalunya!!

Perhaps the most significant day of the last test of the season in the Circuit de Catalunya was Friday 11 / 3 and the show was stolen by the Mercedes of Michael Schumacher. The German drove the fully upgraded Mercedes with full package of upgrades and immediately showed their potential: in a the morning simulation of qualifying he made the 1:21.249, which is the best time achieved in this year in Barcelona. Schumacher made even more laps in a similar time later, indicating that this time-period belongs to "him."

The speed of the Mercedes was seen by the fact that Nico Rosberg scored the third time which was half a second slower than his team mate's. As for the rain tomorrow, the German team in the afternoon gave the opportunity to Rosberg to drive the fully upgraded car in the dry to get a taste of what has to be done.

Fernando Alonso with Ferrari was in second place on the list as well and he did the morning qualifying simulation, but was 3 tenths behind Schumacher. The Spaniard, however, did too much work with the F150, completing 141 laps. Nick Heidfeld with Renault was the fourth fastest, but the day was not ideal for the German who passed a long time stationary in the garage of his Group in an unspecified problem.

Williams decided for the next two days not to use KERS which created so many problems but Rubens Barrichello had a good day, posting the fifth year.

The teams of Red Bull did not pulled over the lights today with Jaime Alguersuari is seventh and Sebastian Vettel remaining in eighth. The "joke" in the paddock of Barcelona was that the champions have already tried what they wanted and now they do not need to do anything else. In return for the time lost yesterday Lotus saw Heikki Kovalainen completing 138 rounds with the T128 and scoring the ninth best time period, ahead of Paul Di Resta and Adrian Sutil driving for Force India.

Another disappointing day for McLaren, with Button completing only 57 laps with the 13th position in the time peiods. The British lost plenty of time because the engineers changed the engine in the Mercedes car and was certainly not happy with the last day of the tests before the start of the season. The ranking was closed again by Jerome D 'Ambrosio with Virgin.
During lunchtime, HRT presented its new car called F111. The car will be hitting the track for the first time tomorrow, the last day of testing in Barcelona. Along with the HRT on the track will be McLaren, Ferrari, Mercedes and Williams, but rain is predicted, which is surely going to make the job of the teams more difficult!!
