26/3/11,
With an amazing lap time Vettel got the first position in the 3rd Australian testing.
Sebastian Vettel passed through the track like a giant storm through the third period of the free testing of the Australian GP, taking the first position with 1.24.507 ahead of Mark Webber in second with 1.25.364. Behind them were found the two McLarens with Lewis Hamilton in third 1.25.553 and Jenson Button in fourth with 1.25.567, proving that the team of Mc Laren might be quite competitive.
Another surprise was the lap time of the Russian driver Vitaly Petrov with his Renault who gained the fifth position with 1.25.906. Behind him was found Alonso who was not in such a good shape getting the sixth position with 1.26.121.
The two Williams drivers had some problems with Pasto Maldonado being trapped into a gravel trap and Rubens Barrichello losing the opportunity of testing his car due to a technical issue. Sergio Perez with his Sauber was not also able to complete his season being followed by Vitantoni Liuzzi who did not go as far as turn four before his car shut down. His team mate Narain Kartikeyan was able to complete a single lap just 7 minutes before the end of the season.
Finally Felipe Massa had an unusual incident when his onboard camera fell off the car forcing him to stop his run.
