9/3/11,
Sebatian Vettel stopped the clocks at Catalunya!!
And the second day of the development testing of the F1 team in Barcelona Red Bull showed again its power. Following the lead of Mark Webber on Tuesday, arrived on Wednesday Sebastian Vettel to raise the bar even further. The Champion has a good sample of the possibilities and the 1:21.865 RB7 made this by far the best time we've seen this year at the Circuit de Catalunya. This time the morning came up through a stint of 5 laps in the afternoon where the German was focused on covering large distances.
The day is owned by Red Bull as it's "daughter» Toro Rosso with Sebastien Buemi was in the second position on the list. The Swiss made a simulation in the afternoon qualifying during which he recorded the 1:22.396. In the third position was found Vitaly Petrov with Renault, who was the one who led theday to its end complete with the red flag which was caused a little before the end.
Lewis Hamilton was the one who scored the fourth best time-period, but the day wasn't as they expected for McLaren. There were problems with plumbing and with the exhaust of the car so the team could not make the simulation of the race which was planned by the British, completing only 57 laps. Felipe Massa led Ferrari's car which brought aerodynamic upgrades and exhausts into new positions. The Brazilian scored his fifth best time-period of the day but it was clear that the aspirations of the Italian team were not the absolute time periods as they did all the day double-digit stints, completing 101 laps.
Paul di Resta with Force India managed to do 118 laps, despite a fuel pump problem which immobilized his car sometime in the morning, scoring the sixth best time-period, ahead of Kamui Kobayashi. Some upgrades had the car of Mercedes but not the whole package, which we expect to see one of the following days. Rosberg was the eighth fastest driver, ahead of Jarno Trulli. Most problems from all, faced Pastor Maldonado with Williams. A failure in KERS, the causes of which are still being looked by the British group, prompted him to make only 29 laps in the whole day. The rankings were closed by Jerome D 'Ambrosio with Virgin.
The Barcelona Testing will continue on Thursday with the absence of McLaren, which will return to the track on Friday and on Saturday.
